Curlew Crest

Curlew Rusty

Russell (Rusty) Ward, then Leading Seaman Underwater Weapons, served in HMAS Curlew in 1965 and 1966 during the Indonesian Confrontation and this is a model of our ship HMAS Curlew (sic-1965) which he has lovingly built, scaled down to 48:1.

In 1965/66 Curlew, still a minesweeper, was in the FESR with a twin vickers machine gun in the bow, twin 3inch rocket launchers and two single 40/60 bofor mountings.
